Biography

stewal is a Belgian toolmanufacturing company with approximately 30 employees and specialised in the development and manufacturing of custom made tools for the massproduction. stewal is in this area a subcontractor for the following sectors: automotive, aero-space, nuclear energy,  electronics, medicine, mechanical engineering, textile, packaging industry, robotics...

A major asset is our multi-disciplinary experience: not only R & D, engineering, mechanics, knowledge of materials but also applied informatics, research, quality control, collaboration with partners, as well as multi-disciplinary subcontracting.

A few realised and planned projects

A revolutionary system for intra-operative, custom made, hip prosthesis has been successfully developed in co-operation with the orthopaedic department of a university hospital. In order to achieve this, a special laser measuring machine was designed and manufactured to measure in three dimensions 1500 dots in one minute and to process them in an own CAD-system. Several spin-offs came of this project such as experience in the digital communication, surgical instruments and bio-compatible materials. Recently a coating-facility for the implants is being developed in this field.

stewal has, through years of intense collaboration with both customers and scientific technical centres for the industry, built up an extensive experience in the field of cams and cam systems (e.g. the development, the calculation of velocity, acceleration, forces and stresses and finally the manufacturing).

Having a lot of experience in automation, stewal is at the moment broadening its activities in this field.
